Winter

Snow! Snow! and more Snow! We are getting used to living with snow and cold weather, but not to the beauty of the freshly fallen snow.  Thank goodness for snow pants. Clementine would not be able to make snow angels and sled without them. She has even worn them to the grocery store on below zero days.  If only it was easier to get them on and off!

 

Clementine's Birthday

Clementine is 3. She had a hotdog party, just like the pigeon in the Mo Willems books always wants. All the kids had a great time decorating gingerbread cookies. Clementine played with all her new toys while the other kids decorated, so there were none of the fights over new toys. After her party we went with her cousins to see the Starlight Parade in downtown Denver. It was crowed, but we had fun riding the train downtown and seeing all the lights. 

Fall in Colorado

One day we are wearing shorts and the next snowsuits. This October we have been lucky to have many days of beautiful sunny 70 degree weather. We have enjoyed the changing leaves and gone on hikes. Here is our cousin Jacob reading the map on a hike in Castlewood Canyon. We made several wrong turns finding our way there, but it was worth the adventure. This month we also had our first snow fall to Clementine's delight. She loved making tracks in the snow and following the tracks left by the deer.

New Places

Traveling to new places brings many things: the thrill of unfamiliar landscapes, the sweetness of falling of the beaten path, the exhaustion of navigating, homesickness, and the glory of surviving and thriving in new territory. This is my attempt to share my family's travels as we explore our new home in Colorado, raise our two-year old, and try to establish new careers. Each of these endeavers requires traveling to different realms of our lives whether by car, book, or courage. A trip to the grocery store with a toddler wearing panties for the first time can be a real adventure!
